Let’s compare PRESENT and PAST of the verb TO BE:<\/p>\n

Present:<\/em><\/span> I am <\/strong><\/span><\/span>at school now. \/ You are<\/span><\/span><\/strong> at school now. \/ She is<\/strong><\/span> at school now.<\/p>\n

Past:<\/em><\/span> I was<\/strong><\/span> at school yesterday. \/ You were <\/strong><\/span>at school yesterday. \/ She was <\/span><\/strong><\/span>at school yesterday.<\/p>\n

2. THERE WAS … \/ THERE WERE …<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Present:<\/em><\/span> There is <\/strong><\/span><\/span> someone at the door. \/ There are <\/strong><\/span>14 students in our class this year.<\/p>\n

Past<\/em><\/span>: There was<\/strong><\/span> someone at the door a minute ago. \/ There were<\/strong><\/span> 16 students in our class last year.<\/p>\n
